The USHIO USH-102DH (part #5000274) is a 100-watt high-pressure mercury short-arc lamp introduced in the early 1980s specifically for use in Nikon fluorescence microscopes. What sets this lamp apart is its horizontal burn orientation — the "H" in the suffix — which is required by Nikon’s horizontal lamp housing design. To prevent accidental substitution, USHIO and Nikon engineered the USH-102DH with a smaller 2.0mm pin thickness, ensuring that vertical-burn lamps like the USH-102D or Osram HBO 100W/2 (with 2.5mm pins) cannot be inadvertently installed.
