Halogen Warning

WARNING

• Disconnect all power and electrical sources to the lamp/bulb before removing, installing or adjusting.
• Never touch the lamp while it’s on or right after turning it off.  A cool down period of no less than 10 minutes is required depending upon the ventilation of the fixture chamber and if there is forced air cooling or not.
• Halogen lamps operate at high temperatures and can cause burns or fires.
• Only use halogen lamps in fixtures made for halogen lamps, and the fixture should fully contain the lamp if it breaks.
• Do not use Halogen lamps in proximity to paper, cloth or flammable materials that can cause a fire hazard.
• Don’t touch the bulb or reflector with bare hands. Skin oils can damage it. Use clean gloves or lint-free cloth.
• If the lamp is dirty, clean it with alcohol and lint-free cloth. Dirt or oil can cause hot spots and cause failure.
• Don’t stare directly at a lit lamp; it may cause eye injury.
• Make sure the lamp is firmly in the socket. Loose installation can cause electrical arcing, overheating, or damage. Replace worn sockets if needed.  Lamp holders and sockets with discoloration such as darkening, oxidation, or frayed wiring are hazardous and should be replaced immediately.
• Only use lamps with the correct wattage and voltage for the fixture. Using the wrong type can cause overheating or failure and create a safety hazard.
• Don’t run lamps above their rated voltage and be careful with dimmers that might exceed the rated voltage.
• Use the lamp only in the operating (burn) position it’s designed for.
• Keep the seal temperature below 350 °C.
• Keep the bulb wall between 250 °C and 800 °C.
• Don’t let one lamp shine directly on another; this can cause overheating.
