| What is High Pressure Sodium Lamps/Light Bulbs? |
High Pressure Sodium (often called HPS or LU) lamps are a type of HID (High-Intensity Discharge) lamp which is one of the most efficient light sources available today. These lamps are used for general lighting applications where high efficiency and long life are desired while color rendering is not critical. HPS lamps warm up slowly to full brightness over a period of 10 or 15 minutes.
High Pressure Sodium Lamps are available in 2 bases - E26 Standard Medium Base and E39 Mogul Base. |

| Handling Precautions |
Installation and Operating Instructions
Always turn off the electrical source before installing or removing a lamp.
Allow the lamp to cool down before removing it. Removing the bulb right after turning the electricity off can cause serious burns. Never install it into an ordinary household socket.
Ballast and FIxture
High Pressure Sodium Lamps must be operated with a compatible ballast and fixture. ANSI code can be found on the lamp outer glass bulb.
Maintenance
Replace lamp if outer glass bulb has been scratched, cracked, or damaged in any way. |
