| What is Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs/Lamps? |
A Compact Fluorescent Lamp (CFL) is also known as a compact fluorescent light or energy saving light. CFL light bulb is designed to replace standard incandescent screw-in light bulb which is often used in residential and office areas, such as table lamps, wall sconces, and other general lightings. Compact Fluorescent lamps use less power and have a longer rated life compared to general service incandescent lamps, while giving the same amount of visible light.
Compact Fluorescent Lamps are the darling of the energy efficient lighting universe. New advances in light engineering has created a new family of CFL lamps that glow brighter, last longer, and use less energy than previous generations of lamps. We offer T2 spiral CFL lamps in E26 and GU-24 base configurations, for today's most demanding lighting specifications. We offer T3 Spiral CFL lamps for economical and practical lighting applications. We offer CFL PAR lamps (over 40 different styles) for energy efficient retrofitting of incandescent sockets, and we offer plug-in style CFL single, double, and triple tube lamps from 9-55 watts, all in a variety of designer colors. With average lifetimes up to 10,000 hours, these hard-working lamps are here to stay. Get your entire line of CFL products here! |
| Advantages |
Longer Lamp Life
The average rated life of a CFL is between 8 and 15 times that of incandescents. See the comparison chart below.
Energy Efficient
For a given light output, CFLs use 20 to 33 percent of the power of equivalent.
Less Heat
CFLs use less electricity than incandescent bulbs, thus give much less heat.
Energy Saving = Save $$
CFLs are extremely cost-effective in commercial buildings when used to replace incandescent lamps. Using average U.S. commercial electricity and gas rates for 2006, a 2008 article found that replacing each 75 W incandescent lamp with a CFL resulted in yearly savings of $22 in energy usage, reduced HVAC cost, and reduced labor to change lamps. The incremental capital investment of $2 per fixture is typically paid back in about one month. Savings are greater and payback periods shorter in regions with higher electric rates and, to a lesser extent, also in regions with higher than U.S. average cooling requirements. |
